In October 1994, Oakland University Police had installed and activated seven blue light emergency telephones. More have been added since. Located at strategic places around main campus, these phones (when activated) have a direct connection to the police dispatcher. Reports of crimes in progress, medical emergencies, fire, and other emergency matters can be reported to
Police Dispatch Operations Center via these instruments. Officer response time is often as little as 90 seconds.
